Mambow's playlists for the weekend shift
The first playlist features more hypnotic techno and trance to get in the game. It's uplifting and can get anyone focused to be creative about thinking about the menu ahead. During service, we’ll slow things down for some cosy jams because working in the kitchen is so hectic and you're multi-tasking it's important to have music balance out the energy. Finally, coming to the end of the journey where we wind down for the evening. Most people would probably stick jazz on or something, but for me, it's 80s chill all the way to wind down and round off the evening.
Playlist #1 Pre-game
Rave culture is very close to my heart (on the odd occasion I get the weekend off...) so this playlist is very much a mix of uplifting and heavy party tunes. These songs help me focus and tap-in to the evening ahead. Favourite tune would be Night Journey's by Courtesy.
Playlist #2 Service session
During service I like to listen to songs with more of a slower rhythm and flow – enter the service session in all her glory. Anything from Madlib or Quasimoto keeps me calm and in the room.
Playlist #3 Shutdown soothers
The names in the title. Tunes to wind-down to, maybe some cosy lyrics thrown in there as well whilst still having the odd bassline. Gene Harris - Losalamitoslatinfunklovesong is a must.
